A total of 90 master’s and doctoral students in the Clemson College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences (CAFLS) participated in the inaugural CAFLS Graduate Research Symposium. The event was held at the Pee Dee Research and Education Center (REC) near Florence, South Carolina and consisted of 3-minute thesis competitions and poster sessions related to each participating student’s research area. The winners received their awards from CAFLS Dean Keith Belli.
The symposium titled, Communicating Science to Different Audiences, provided students with opportunities to learn how to adjust messages according to audience needs and understanding. The format was structured so that students could learn how to relay technical information to non-technical audiences. Plans are to hold the symposium annually.
Students also toured REC facilities to learn about research being conducted.
