Certain researchers seeking funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will need to complete training on disclosure requirements per an NIH directive that takes effect Oct. 1.

To support compliance, the Division of Research Office of Sponsored Programs has created a brief eight-minute training course available via Tiger Training. All applicants and senior or key personnel listed on a funding application must complete the course when receiving a “Just in Time” request from NIH.
NIH uses Just-in-Time procedures that allow certain elements of a funding application to be submitted later in the application process. These might include certification of compliance committee approvals from the Institutional Review Board or the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, for example, or certification of required human subject training.
Researchers seeking federal funding may be required to disclose other financial support and affiliations, such as other resources supporting the work from federal, non-federal, institutional, private or foreign sources of funding. Outside consulting work involving research must also be disclosed.
The eight-minute Tiger Training course covers the details on specifically what, when, where and how these disclosures should be made. When an individual completes the course, a record of the date and time of viewing will automatically be added to their InfoEd profile. Access the course here.
