A new portal will open the door for working professionals to enhance their career potential this fall through Clemson University’s MBA program.

The new MBA Online program will provide for classroom and remote learning.

About 100 online students are expected to begin their MBA journey in the first year of the MBA Online program, which begins this fall when the College of Business launches its completely remote degree program. Two years in the making, MBA Online will enable students to receive an MBA their way — entirely online, either in a real-time, interactive setting, or through specially designed coursework they can access as their schedules permit.

“We’ve had a tremendous response to the new online program since announcing its launch in February of 2018,” said Kristin Allen Hawk, director of MBA admissions. “For students whose schedules simply don’t allow for a structured classroom routine, this will enable them to learn whenever and wherever they want.”

From orientation and career services to faculty interactions and curriculum, this customized approach to earning an MBA will be completely online. Hawk said applications for the fall semester will continue to be accepted until July 1, but the online program can be started year-round – in spring, summer or fall.

Nearly 630 inquiries have been received about MBA Online, which is geared to working professionals who have at least two years’ work experience. Hawk said those inquiries came from 28 states and abroad.

“The interest in our new online offering has also generated additional interest in our other hybrid, distance-learning programs. The MBA in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Business Analytics are part-time and can be experienced through education delivered online and on weekends,” she added.

Greg Pickett, director of MBA programs, said the flexible “learn from anywhere” online option will open the door for students whose schedules or location don’t allow for traditional classroom learning.

“This innovative educational model is going to allow so many more working professionals to pursue an advanced degree. Students who cannot physically be in a classroom will receive high quality content and delivery. This new learning option has the potential to double our MBA program’s enrollment in the next few years.”

Hawk said the MBA Online curriculum will follow a traditional corporate track. Other MBA options offered by Clemson include, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Business Analytics, and a dual MBA/MIB degree that includes International Business.

“Professionals from many walks of life will now have a flexible option to pursue our MBA,” Hawk said. “With it, students can log in when the class is scheduled to engage in discussion with other students and the professor, or they can opt to learn at any hour from the location of their choice.”
