Clemson University’s 16th president, Benjamin C. Ayers, will lead Summer Commencement on August 6-7 where approximately 1,100 students are set to earn bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Doctoral Commencement is set for 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, followed by Commencement for bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 7. Both ceremonies will take place in Littlejohn Coliseum.
Tickets are not issued, but graduates are asked to limit to a maximum of six guests. Doors open one hour prior to Doctoral Commencement and two hours prior to Friday’s ceremony.
Safety and Accessibility
- Magnetometers are present at all entrances to Littlejohn Coliseum and the facility’s clear bag policy is utilized for faculty, staff, graduates and guests.
- The north entrance (accessible from Ravenel Road) features ADA parking.
- Wheelchairs are available for individuals with accessibility needs.
Event Services
- Guest services is located in Burton Gallery, on the south end of the coliseum.
- Stroller/walker check-in is available in the east corner next to Burton Gallery and separate areas for first aid and lactation are also located near the same area.
Construction and Parking
- Expansion and renovation of Clemson Basketball facilities — including Swann Pavilion — is ongoing around the coliseum. Guests are asked to exercise caution and avoid entering construction areas.
- General parking is available in the vicinity of the coliseum. Please allow for extra time entering the facility due to construction on the southeast corner (adjacent to Avenue of Champions and Centennial Boulevard).
- Avenue of Champions and the C-9 parking lot will be reserved for working event staff.
- Guests who have plans to visit downtown Clemson should make note of the ongoing streetscape project on College Avenue; access will be available to parking garages located on Keith Street and Fendley Street. Metered spaces in both garages are free for the first four hours.
Graduates
- Graduates should enter the coliseum through the loading dock, accessible from the Avenue of Champions.
- Renovations are ongoing inside Swann Pavilion and graduates will be directed to the tunnel area to check in with Registrar’s Office staff.
- Doctoral Commencement will include a procession of graduates, while bachelor’s and master’s candidates will sit in designated areas within their academic college.
Faculty and Staff
- Faculty and staff are welcome to attend Commencement.
- Faculty participating in the processional should enter the coliseum from the loading dock, accessible from the Avenue of Champions.
- The faculty reception is located in the Coliseum Club. Lineup for the faculty processional begins 15 minutes prior to each ceremony.
- For Friday’s ceremony, University staff will have reserved seating in section 132. Seats will be marked on a first-come, first-served basis. Enter through the coliseum in section 134 and show your valid CUID to event security to access staff seating. Doctoral Commencement will not include reserved faculty/staff seating.
