Student Affairs recognizes outstanding staff for years of service to Clemson

For years, Elaine White was a radiology supervisor in Redfern Health Center. She retired for a short period of time before the pull of Student Health Services lured her back as a radiology technician.

White was recognized Tuesday morning at the Student Affairs directors meeting for 40 years of service to Clemson University. She was one of six Division of Student Affairs employees to receive a pin and recognition for at least 10 years of service.

“We were thrilled to have Elaine back, as the quality of her work is as impeccable as her character,” said George Clay, director of Student Health Services.

Clay went on to read a note from her supervisor, Lynn Moore, who wrote “Elaine is a dedicated employee who constantly goes above and beyond the call of duty, is a team worker, great employee and trusted friend who cares for everyone as if they were her own.”

White was one of two Student Health Services staff members to be recognized by Clay. The other, Dede Kearney, was honored for 20 years of service. She was once Redfern’s medical records manager, leading the successful transition to a paperless system. She currently serves in an administrative capacity.

“Dede is very respected by her peers and has helped improve the quality of services we provide to our students,” Clay acknowledged.

Carol Hudson of Parking and Transportation Services was unable to make Tuesday’s meeting, but was recognized by director Dan Hofmann and supervisor Tracey Morgan for 20 years at Clemson. Hudson spent the better part of nine years as a parking enforcement officer before transitioning into a customer service role.

“Carol is part of our front line, which can be a very demanding role,” Hofmann said. “I’m very proud of the work she does and have seen her grow in the time I’ve been at Clemson; we’re happy she’s part of our team.”

Wanda Hendricks, a fiscal analyst within the Student Affairs Business Office (SABO), was also recognized for 20 years of service. SABO director Lisa Bona spoke on behalf of Hendricks, who actually began her Student Affairs career as a member of the TigerOne Card Services team.

“Wanda has done an incredible job of learning new things and taking on new responsibilities for us,” Bona said. “As a division, we’re thankful to have her for 20 years.”

Two building and ground specialists within University Housing & Dining were also honored. Teresa Estrich celebrated 10 years of service and Rachel Galloway was lauded for 20 years.
