For the seventh consecutive summer, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is providing a free virtual skills workshop series for Clemson University faculty and staff. The skills taught are from the concept of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), a program offered to students throughout the academic year.
Both workshop series are five weeks in length and include 90-minute sessions. Faculty and staff are highly encouraged to consider joining for the full 10 weeks to get the most out of the workshop material as possible. Workshops are offered on Tuesday (9:30–11 a.m.) and Wednesday (10:30 a.m. to noon) each week. Please note, workshop availability is based on a first come, first served basis. Both groups will be entirely virtual.
The first series — scheduled to start on May 26 and 27 — focuses on mindfulness and interpersonal relationships:
• Weeks 1-2 – Mindfulness: stress reduction skills that can be used at any time or place, as well as increasing overall self-awareness
• Weeks 3-5 – Interpersonal Effectiveness: Refresher on how to relate and communicate with others while also maintaining self-respect and personal goals/boundaries
The second series — scheduled to start on June 30 and July 1 — focuses on dealing with difficult emotions and distress:
• Weeks 1-3 – Emotional Regulation: Managing emotions and learning skills to help participants be the best versions of themselves in the face of difficult situations

• Weeks 4-5 – Distress Tolerance: Equipping participants with tools to increase the ability to tolerate distress and navigate life effectively
As a reminder, classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and participants can sign up for either or both workshop series. Interested participants should email Aly Enck, coordinator of DBT services for CAPS.
