As students return to campus for the 2026-27 academic year, the Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) is encouraging all members of the University community to take the Safety Pledge. Commit to putting safety first by making responsible choices and looking out for your fellow Tigers throughout the entire year.
The safety pledge asks members of the University community to commit to the following actions:
- Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs because one reckless moment can change a life forever.
- Always choose a safe way home, whether that’s a designated sober driver or rideshare.
- Stand up for your fellow Tigers by stepping in when someone’s at risk and helping them make smart choices.
- Be a voice for safety and responsibility because real leadership starts with doing what’s right, even when it’s difficult.
- Reject hazing in all forms—physical, emotional or psychological—because true belonging is built on respect, not harm.
Every student who completes the pledge will be entered into a drawing for a prize. Additionally, the student organization that has the most students sign the safety pledge will receive a plaque, recognizing their achievement.
