Wesley O’Kelley joins the PCVM as the Site Operations Coordinator, bringing a broad range of technical expertise and leadership experience across multiple fields. He also brings with him an enthusiasm for supporting a college that is building something historic for South Carolina.
For O’Kelley, the opportunity to join Clemson was about more than a new position. It was about becoming part of something much larger than himself.
“The opportunity to join Clemson family really drew me in,” said O’Kelley. “To be able to join a team that is making history for the state of South Carolina is the cherry on top. The environment and culture they’re creating here at PCVM is something I believe anyone would want to be a part of.”
As Site Operations Coordinator, O’Kelley supports daily operations with a practical, solutions-oriented approach. His background spans machining, tool and die work, HVAC, supervision and team leadership. This experience has prepared him to coordinate complex processes while helping keep facilities operating efficiently.
O’Kelley earned degrees in machine tool and die in 2015 and management in 2019 from Tri-County Technical College. His combination of technical expertise and organizational training provides a strong foundation for a role that requires both hands-on problem solving and long-term planning.
One aspect of the position that particularly excites him is becoming deeply familiar with the college’s facilities and contributing to their growth and functionality.
“I’m looking forward to assisting the PCVM team in moving forward,” O’Kelley said. “Being a part of the facilities team means that I get to learn these brand-new buildings inside and out, and that is something I am excited about. Being hands on and seeing the impact of repairing something is something that I really enjoy.”
As the college continues to grow and evolve, O’Kelley sees opportunities to contribute by pairing operational knowledge with practical insight.
“Being able to learn the facilities and be a part of the PCVM team will allow me to bring great insight to the team from the building side of things,” he said. “Whether it is for smaller changes to be made, or for larger plans for future growth, knowing the facilities in that aspect will make a great difference in helping the team move fiercely forward.”
Outside of work, O’Kelley and his wife, Sarah, are approaching six years of marriage after 14 years together and share their home with two dogs, Bean (a Great Dane) and Louis (a beagle) affectionately called “Loo.”
When he’s not at work, O’Kelley enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, playing adult league softball and basketball, and pursuing his passion for music by playing drums for his church.
