Applying to veterinary school is an exciting milestone, but it can also feel overwhelming. To help prospective students confidently prepare their applications, the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (PCVM) offered a multi-part webinar series focused on the admissions process through VMCAS (Veterinary Medical College Application Service). For the Class of 2031, the application window is now open, and the webinar series offered an opportunity for applicants to strengthen their applications before submission. Just under 400 students in total signed up for the series.

The virtual sessions provided practical guidance on building a competitive application while giving participants a closer look at admissions process. The series reflects the college’s commitment to recruiting and selecting future veterinarians who demonstrate both academic excellence and the personal qualities needed to thrive in the profession.

“Each webinar focused on a key component of the application process,” said Leona Ransdell, Admissions and Student Finance Coordinator. “Our goal is to ensure participants gained an overview of admissions requirements and timelines, learned strategies for crafting compelling personal narratives, received guidance on preparing written application materials and benefited from a workshop designed to help applicants confidently navigate the admissions interview process.”

Admission to the PCVM is highly competitive and evaluates applicants using both academic and non-academic attributes, said Ransdell, who coordinated and hosted the webinars. The college is seeking future veterinary leaders who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to animal and human health in South Carolina and beyond.

Through its state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated faculty and innovative curriculum, the PCVM is preparing the next generation of veterinary clinicians. This webinar series serves as another step in supporting future students as they begin their journey in this rewarding career.
