Funding available for building energy, health research

Clemson University researchers are invited to submit proposals to fund research projects aimed at reducing energy usage in buildings and improving health of building occupants.

Johnson Controls Inc. plans to fund two to three projects. Up to $400,000 is available for the 2026-27 funding period.

Projects will be prioritized that address improved modeling of HVAC controls, indoor air quality and air cooling for data centers.

Proposals are due Feb. 27 with awards announced March 31. Application instructions and details on eligibility are listed in the Request for Proposals available here.

Johnson Controls worked with Clemson to established the Johnson Controls Building Analytics for Sustainability & Health Center within the Watt Family Innovation Center.

The Johnson Controls Building Analytics for Sustainability & Health Center Selection Committee, which includes representatives from Clemson University and Johnson Controls, will approve awards for a maximum of 15 months (May 2026 to August 2027).
