EY-Parthenon Global Consumer Principal and Retail Practice Leader Jim Doucette will deliver a keynote presentation at the annual Food, Packaging & Sustainability Summit. Sonoco FRESH will host the Summit at Clemson University on September 18 – 19, 2023.
Mr. Doucette’s presentation, The Path to 2030: Delivering a Sustainable Future, will discuss the ambitious journey to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations in 2015. The 17 goals have provided a framework to bring together governments, organizations and companies to deliver a better, more sustainable future.
The keynote presentation will explore the progress made during the first half of the SDGs program, lessons learned and the pathway forward.

Jim Doucette has held a variety of leadership positions in the management consulting and consumer products industries in a career spanning 30+ years, with a particular focus on growth strategies and enterprise transformations. Prior to EY, Jim was a Partner in McKinsey’s Consumer practice, co-leading the Marketing Strategy service line. Jim has earlier consulting leadership positions at Henry Rak Consulting Partners (acquired by McKinsey), CSC Consulting and Peppers and Rogers Group. Jim began his career at The Procter and Gamble Company in Brand Management and Finance Management positions on the Tide, NyQuil and Sunny Delight businesses.
The 2023 FRESH Summit will focus on measuring progress and driving change as many organizations near their 2025 sustainability goals and are striving to accelerate progress. The Summit will begin the evening of September 18 with a welcome reception featuring student poster presentations, a dinner and keynote presentation and a lakeside dessert networking reception. September 19 will kick off with remarks from Clemson and Sonoco leadership, followed by EY’s keynote presentation. Summit sessions will focus on trends and implications for sustainability across the value chain, advances in achieving a circular packaging system and case studies of successful partnerships. Attendees can participate in walking tours of the Clemson campus, and the Summit will conclude with an open house in the Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics.
The Early Bird Registration rate for the FRESH Summit is $399 for individuals through June 30, 2023, at which point it will rise to $499. Registration is $349 per person for groups of 5 or more registering together. Proceeds from the Summit will support future activities of the FRESH initiative at Clemson University.
