The Clemson University Fire & EMS Department (CUFD) unveiled its new quint aerial fire truck, debuting a brand-new design for the department’s vehicles. The truck was selected by manufacturer Sutphen Corporation to be featured at their exhibit at the FDIC International conference in Indianapolis, Ind. this week.

The truck features a brand-new paint scheme for CUFD, with Clemson Orange and Regalia comprising the majority of the eye-catching design, with the University’s iconic Tiger Paw featured throughout. The new look will be the standard for all department trucks and ambulances moving forward.

“We are excited to debut not only our new quint truck but the new design as well,” said CUFD Chief Rick Cramer. “It not only looks amazing but with the quint concept, combines the functionality of a ladder and an engine to efficiently serve the needs of the Clemson community for years to come.

“We are also honored to have this truck featured at FDIC and showcased to the 35,000+ fire and rescue professionals that attend this conference every year. A big thank you to Williams Fire and Sutphen Corporation for all of their work and attention to detail to bring this truck and our new design to life and for selecting it to be featured at this year’s conference.”

A quint fire truck is an apparatus that combines the equipment capabilities of a ladder truck and the water-pumping ability of a fire engine. As its name implies, it features five main tools to carry out firefighting functions: A pump, water tank, fire hose, aerial device and ground ladders.

The truck will be designated as Engine 1 and will be located at Station 1.
