Clemson ranks 16 out of 55 South Carolina employers on the list, competitive with several leading companies, such as Boeing (#12), UPS (#20) and General Electric (#24).

“I am proud that Clemson University has been recognized by Forbes as one of the best employers in the state of South Carolina and as the highest ranked university in our state,” said Clemson University President Jim Clements “We are committed to the success, health and well-being of our employees and are proud to be ranked among so many of our outstanding peers. Our employees are making a positive impact on our students, the state of South Carolina and beyond.”

Previously, Clemson was named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Large Employers in 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2017.

“It is true that there is something special in these hills at Clemson!” said Ale Kennedy, associate vice president and chief human resources officer at Clemson University. “What attracts many candidates to Clemson is our commitment to our values, traditions and the Clemson Family. When you step on campus, you can tell faculty and staff truly care about the University and its students and are proud to work for here.”

What Clemson Faculty and Staff are Saying

“It’s hard to replicate Clemson,” said Jake Anderson, Staff Senate president and director of recruitment for the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. “There is a true sense of community and family here. The quintessential college town, beautiful campus, and incredible people make it a special place to many”.

About the Ranking

Forbes partnered with research firm Statista to survey 70,000 full- or part-time employees. Respondents were from all fifty states and work at companies with more than 500 workers.

The survey asked participants if they would recommend their employer to friends and family. It also asked them to evaluate their employer based on topics such as working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development and company image. Respondents could also evaluate other employers in their state or respective industries.

The complete list and information about the survey can be found on the Forbes 2023 Best Employers by State website
