As the weather gets warmer and there are more opportunities for outdoor activities, faculty and staff are encouraged to check out the resources offered by Campus Recreation.

The Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex, which includes the Andy Quattlebaum Outdoor Education Center (Andy’s), can help provide inexpensive outdoor activities for employees and their families. From onsite usage of equipment to $20 for a recreational kayak rental, a variety of options are available.

The Snow Complex is Clemson’s premier lakefront area and contains various amenities, including the beach area. Faculty, staff and students must provide their physical or mobile CUID credentials to gate attendants when entering the Snow Complex.

The CORE program is housed with Andy’s and offers a variety of outdoor equipment for rent, including kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, bikes and more. Campus Recreation staff emphasizes safety when participating in outdoor activities and goes over reviews of any equipment during rental pickup and returns.

Access a list of outdoor recreation equipment and budget-friendly rental options through Campus Recreation.

Those with an active campus recreation membership may rent equipment. Check out additional information regarding memberships on the Campus Recreation website. Employees can explore and sign up for memberships online through payroll deduction.

Robert Taylor, director of programs and assessment for Campus Recreation, encourages faculty and staff to take advantage of the resources provided by the Snow Wellness Complex and Andy’s.

“As the weather warms up, don’t forget that lakes, rivers and forests surround Clemson. The staff at Andy’s can help you get outside and take advantage of all the outdoor recreation opportunities in our area,” Taylor said. “There is so much to explore, from kayaking on Lake Hartwell to mountain biking in the Clemson Forest,” Taylor said.

Andy’s includes adventure trip resources and outdoor recreation equipment for lakefront enjoyment and guests can rent various sports equipment during open hours. Picnic areas, beach volleyball and patio spaces around Andy’s are available for guest use on a first-come, first-served basis.
