Brian Watkins has been named associate vice president for international programs and partnerships at Clemson University.
Watkins served as director of international initiatives at the University of Georgia since 2015, providing leadership and strategic direction for the university’s international engagement efforts.
In his new role, which begins in January 2025, Watkins will provide leadership and management of international programs while overseeing daily operations and strategic direction of the Office of Global Engagement.
He will provide development and operational management of Clemson’s international engagements, including study abroad programs, partnerships, scholarly activities and services for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
“Clemson is an incredibly dynamic institution poised to expand its international footprint significantly. I am thrilled at the chance to work with the talented team at the Office of Global Engagement and with partners on and off campus further to grow international student mobility and high-impact global research,” said Watkins.
Watkins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University, a Master of Philosophy from the University of Oxford and a Juris Doctor from the College of William & Mary.
