“Our faculty and staff are central to Clemson’s success,” said President Ben Ayers. “When faculty have support to pursue research and share their work, and staff have opportunities to build their skills, the entire University benefits. These investments recognize the contributions our people make every day and help them do their best work in service to our students, our communities and South Carolina.”
The Faculty Travel Fund will allow eligible faculty to pursue funding for travel that advances research, scholarship and creative work. Applicants may request support for activities such as presenting at conferences, conducting research requiring travel or participating in professional creative work. Additional resources are available for faculty who are traveling with students that have worked with them on projects. The Office of the Provost will lead this initiative and provide more information to faculty on the program.
“We have incredibly talented faculty at Clemson, and it’s critical that we help provide the support to advance their work beyond campus,” said Provost J. Cole Smith. “This fund is an investment in our faculty to pursue opportunities that build on research, forge new collaborations and provide our students with real-world experiences that help them grow professionally.”
The Staff Professional Development Fund will directly invest in staff, providing opportunities to grow their skillsets and expand their knowledge. These resources are meant to create pathways for professional growth and career advancement for staff members across the University. Eligible activities may include professional certificates, continuing education and specialized training. The Clemson Office of Human Resources will manage this program in collaboration with representatives from the Staff Senate and Office of the President.
“Our staff bring talent, dedication and care to Clemson every day, and this program allows the University to invest in their continued growth,” said Ale Kennedy, chief human resources officer. “This fund is about creating opportunities for our people to learn, build new skills and take the next step in their careers. Just as importantly, we want our staff to know we value not only what they contribute today, but also what they envision for their future.”
