Clemson University will host a live “AI at Clemson” introductory forum on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom webinar.

The first in a series of information sessions, leaders of the University’s human-centered AI Initiative will host an introductory online forum on April 9 to discuss how Clemson will approach and apply artificial intelligence in the months to come.

Hosted by Mitch Shue, provost fellow for artificial intelligence, and Nathan McNeese, associate vice president for technology and innovation, the online forum will outline the University’s approach to AI across learning, teaching, research, workforce development and public engagement, and what University stakeholders can expect as Clemson’s approach to AI continues to take shape.

The session will begin with a brief presentation, followed by time for questions. Students, faculty and staff can submit questions online prior to the forum. The introductory session will cover:

  • The meaning of a human-centered approach to AI at Clemson.
  • The AI Initiative’s role in learning, teaching, research, workforce development and public engagement.
  • The connection between Clemson’s AI strategy and the pillars of Clemson Elevate.
  • Expectations for faculty, staff and students as Universitywide AI guidance, tools and opportunities continue to develop.

Established as a cross-disciplinary effort, Clemson’s new AI Initiative brings together faculty, staff and students to create a human-centered approach to artificial intelligence. Led by Shue and McNeese, the initiative is focused on ensuring the responsible use of AI at Clemson enhances human creativity, drives research innovation and expands opportunities across the Clemson community.

Future sessions focused on available AI tools, practical applications, security and University guidance will be announced in the coming weeks. Additional information on AI at Clemson, including University policies, guidelines, tools and resources, are available on the Clemson AI website.
