Spring is a time for renewal and fresh beginnings. To that end, several projects around Clemson University’s main campus will begin construction or are on schedule to reach completion this Spring semester.

Demolition of Johnstone, Harcombe, and the Union
The demolition of Johnstone, Harcombe, and the Union will begin this month. Please use caution while in the area as large construction vehicles will be traveling in and out of the work-site frequently.
South Campus Stormwater and Landscaping Improvements
A new stormwater retention pond just south of the Strom Thurmond Institute will serve to manage water quality for upstream development. The project, which will also feature 171 new trees, is scheduled for completion this spring.
Sports Program Expansion
The Sports Program Expansion, a multi-sport complex joining the Rowing Facility atop East Beach Drive, is slated for completion in March. The project will provide dedicated facilities for Clemson gymnastics, lacrosse (including stadium and field), and an Elite Athlete Recovery Center.
Life Sciences Building Atrium
The Life Sciences Building Atrium’s full renovation will be completed early this spring. In addition to a new aesthetically pleasing entrance, the project will create additional meeting and study space on each floor.
P-5 Parking Lot Expansion
The P-5 Parking Lot expansion will be completed this spring. Located near the P-7 and P-8 East Park-N-Ride lots, the new expansion will provide more spaces for Clemson students and employees using Park-N-Ride.
Forestry and Environmental Conservation Building
Construction on the Forestry and Environmental Conservation Building is expected to break ground in the next several months. An announcement will provide more detail, including parking impacts, closer to the start date.
Memorial Auditorium Renovation
The renovation of Memorial Auditorium in Tillman Hall has begun with construction fencing erected around the Harcombe/Johnstone loading dock and service road between Johnstone and Tillman. The area within this closure will be utilized by contractors and materials associated with the Memorial Auditorium renovation and will remain in place indefinitely to support the upcoming demolition of Johnstone Hall. The renovation is slated for a March 2025 completion.
Perimeter Road
University Facilities and partners completed several road and parking improvement projects during the Fall semester, spanning Fernow Street, Williamson Road, Kappa Street, Jersey Lane, Cooper Library, the C-2 Lot and others. The surface component of the Perimeter Road widening project was completed late in the semester and crews will continue to complete landscaping.
Byrnes Hall Renovation
Renovations to Byrnes Hall, the first building in the $155 million Bryan Mall High Rise Renovations project, are scheduled for completion this summer. Work included improvements to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as accessibility and visual enhancements.
Jervey Athletic Center Renovations
Work on upgrades to the Jervey Athletic Center, including renovations to Jervey Gym and a new performance and wellness center for Clemson’s student-athletes, will continue through this spring. The Jervey Gym upgrades are expected to be complete in time for the 2024 volleyball season with the Performance and Wellness Center opening in the spring of 2025.
