Some of the best and brightest students in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences are receiving congratulatory packages in the mail this month, a recognition of their outstanding work in several areas, including academics, character, leadership and research.
Social distancing is preventing the college from holding its 2019-20 Honors and Awards ceremony for outstanding students. Instead, the college is recognizing their accomplishments with the packages, which include their plaques, water bottles and a Tiger paw pin.

The college is also producing a series of videos to help honor the students. Those videos will be posted over the next few weeks on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Anand Gramopadhye, the college’s dean, said the awardees represent the next generation of engineers and scientists who will take on the grand challenges of the 21st century.
“I urge you to seek truth and knowledge and to use this knowledge wisely to make the world a better place,” he said. “Be appreciative of all who helped guide you. In the end, the mark of an educated man or woman is measured by their contributions that benefit society.”
