Cam Walters (middle) is a member of Central Spirit and is the director of the 2019 First Friday Parade.

Cam Walters was looking for a great engineering program, but also the type of university that would offer him an exceptional campus life. Following in the footsteps of an older cousin who is now a senior, he left his home in New York and enrolled in the fall of 2018. And he wasted little time getting involved, too. He attended Tiger Prowl and was introduced to the idea of Central Spirit, a student organization best known for its rabid support of Clemson’s varsity athletics teams. He was so integrated into the group that he joined its board of directors as a freshman, a rare occurrence. By the end of the 2018 calendar year, he learned he would be the director of this year’s First Friday Parade.

In the podcast, Walters goes in-depth on the logistics behind this year’s parade, which is set for Friday, Sept. 6. He also discusses what it’s like waving a giant orange flag on Frank Howard Field, what else he’s involved with on campus and how Clemson has made an impact on him in just over a year’s time.
