Health Sciences Center awards seed grant research funding to Clemson faculty
Clemson University researchers from the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences (CBSHS), the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences (CECAS), The Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business, and College of Science (COS) have been awarded 14 seed grants from the Health Sciences Center (HSC) at Prisma Health. The grants are funding projects on various topics from health informatics and substance use disorder to addiction recovery and rare genetic diseases.

Clemson grants $125,000 to support COVID-19 research
Five teams of researchers have received funding to develop tests and strategies that Clemson University and the community can use to continue fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The projects aim to develop new long-lasting sanitizing solutions, faster diagnostics tests and additional tools to more accurately predict COVID-19 spread and severity, among other solutions.
Clemson Data Lab connects data science, research for all

A partnership for the future: Clemson, U.S. Army to develop next generation of autonomous vehicle tools, prototyping
Automotive autonomy technology is changing economies and global industries – and is also a driving force behind military modernization. Bringing these self-driving vehicles to life on- and off-road requires new concepts and algorithms to be tested expeditiously and cost-effectively – all of which happen through virtual prototyping. This key enabler for autonomy is the focus behind a new $18 million center housed at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) and a research partnership with the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC).

Spinning light could lead to new ways of communicating and gathering data
Top researchers from across the country are developing new technology to control an unusual property of light that could make it possible to channel through fog, murky water and thermal turbulence, potentially leading to new ways of communicating and gathering data. The research team is led by Eric Johnson, the PalmettoNet Endowed Chair in Optoelectronics at Clemson University, and includes researchers from six universities. The team has received a $7.5 million grant to fund the project through the Office of Naval Research’s Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI).
