NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a telephonic public hearing will be held by Clemson University (the “University”) on Friday January 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with respect to the proposed issuance by the University of Athletic Facilities Revenue Bonds (collectively, the “Bonds”) in an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $81,000,000 in order to refund all or a portion of the following outstanding bonds of the University:
- The University’s Athletic Facilities Revenue Bonds, Series 2014A (the “Series 2014A Bonds”), which are currently outstanding in the aggregate principal amount of $30,695,000. The Series 2014A Bonds financed (a) the third phase addition to the West Zone Complex at Memorial Stadium, the University’s football facility located at 1 Avenue of Champions, Clemson, South Carolina (including the Oculus and Pedestrian Link structures), (b) the renovations of concourses, seating, and other portions of Memorial Stadium, and (c) additions to the Doug Kingsmore Stadium, the University’s baseball facility, located at 114 Baseball Drive, Clemson, South Carolina (including player amenities and seating).
- The University’s Athletic Facilities Revenue Bonds, Series 2015 (the “Series 2015 Bonds”), which are currently outstanding in the aggregate principal amount of $49,825,000. The Series 2015 Bonds financed costs of planning, developing, constructing, and equipping renovations to Littlejohn Coliseum, the University’s basketball facility, located on the Clemson, South Carolina main campus of the University.
The facilities financed with proceeds of the Series 2014A Bonds and Series 2015 Bonds, which are being refinanced with proceeds of the Bonds, are and will be owned by the University.
Pursuant to IRS Revenue Procedure 2022-20, allowing remote telephonic hearings to qualify as “public hearings” under Section 147(f) of the Internal Revenue Code, the public hearing will be conducted telephonically, and the public will not be able to attend in person. However, all persons who wish to listen to the public hearing may join by calling toll free at (844) 844-0014 and using access code 883455#. All persons who wish to present comments during the public hearing to express their views for or against the proposed issuance of the Bonds must contact the University, not less than 24 hours prior to the public hearing, via email to rpetill@clemson.edu to inform the University of their desire to do so. Those who present comments during the public hearing will be permitted to address the University regarding the Bonds for no more than five minutes. Members of the public may also submit views to the University in writing to G06 Sikes Hall, Clemson, SC 29605 or via email to rpetill@clemson.edu, provided such submission is delivered prior to the hearing. The University will not prepare a transcript of the public hearing.
