New dates announced for Clemson University’s 2020 Men of Color National Summit

CLEMSON — The 2020 Clemson University Men of Color National Summit will take place in Greenville on March 3-4. The annual two-day conference presented by Clemson’s Division of Inclusion and Equity, was originally planned for April, but upon the release of 2019-2020 calendars of school districts in Greenville, Spartanburg, Pickens and Anderson counties, the event was moved to avoid spring break dates. The new dates will ensure that the summit is accessible to the maximum number of students in the Upstate, throughout South Carolina and nationwide.

In 2020, Clemson will host the Men of Color National Summit for a fourth year. At the sold-out 2019 summit more than 2,000 students, government officials, community activists, educators and industry leaders from across the country packed the Greenville Convention Center. Among the summit attendees are the young men of the Tiger Alliance, a college-access program designed to build a college-going culture for African-American and Hispanic, ninth- to 12th-grade high school students in Upstate South Carolina

“To make 2020’s Men of Color National Summit accessible for all of our students, we adjusted our dates for our Tiger Alliance schools,” said Lee Gill, chief inclusion officer and special assistant to the president on inclusion and equity at Clemson University. “The students from these Upstate schools are the heart of the summit and we wanted to help create a clear pathway to college from the very start of their journey.”
