Kara Miller is the compliance coordinator for the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine. She brings more than a decade of experience in public health and regulatory affairs to her role, with a background that spans both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA). Throughout her career, she has contributed to food safety inspections, policy development, and emergency response efforts, work that reflects a deep commitment to protecting both human and animal health. Miller is eager to apply her experience in a setting defined by growth and opportunity.
“I was drawn to PCVM and Clemson University because I enjoy being part of a new, growing institution where every team member helps shape its future,” she said. “As a lifelong animal lover, I am excited to play a role in supporting the education of future veterinarians.”
In her role, Miller is particularly focused on collaboration and continuous learning. “I am looking forward to collaborating with my colleagues and learning from their expertise,” she said. “I am also excited to support our mission of preparing aspiring veterinarians.” Her background in regulatory systems positions her well to help build strong operational foundations as the college evolves.
Looking ahead, Miller sees an opportunity to make a lasting impact through structure and culture. “I am committed to promoting a positive, forward-thinking work environment,” she said, “and hope to make a meaningful impact by developing dependable compliance processes that will support the college as it continues to grow.”
In addition to her academic and professional work, Miller remains closely connected to service through her role as a part-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), allowing her to continue supporting community-based care. Outside of work, her love for animals and the outdoors is central to her life. She and her daughter enjoy spending time outside, trying new recipes, and coloring together. Miller also spends time horseback riding and working part-time at a horse stable, where she has grown especially fond of a horse named Rio. At home, she shares her life with two beloved pets, a beagle mix named Copper and a “sassy old cat” named Gracie, rounding out a life that blends professional purpose with personal passion.
