Meet the Team: Jill Linton

Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine

Jill Linton is the Instructional Designer for the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine. When Linton saw the opportunity to join Clemson University’s newly established college, she knew it was something extraordinary.

“What drew me to Clemson University’s College of Veterinary Medicine was the incredible, once-in-a-career opportunity to help build something brand new,” Linton said. “The idea of shaping a college, its culture, curriculum and lasting legacy, from the ground up felt both thrilling and meaningful.”

For Linton, an instructional designer with years of experience in educational technology and faculty development, the college’s commitment to a competency-based learning philosophy was especially exciting.

“That approach perfectly aligns with my passion for developing veterinarians who are not only knowledgeable but also confident and ready to shine in real-world practice,” she said.

And while her professional reasons for coming to Clemson were clear, she added that the move also brought her closer to her adult children and their families. “That made this adventure even sweeter.”

Linton describes her role as both creative and collaborative, two values that define the college’s start-up spirit.

“It’s such a rare opportunity to design learning experiences that are innovative, hands-on and impactful, right from a program’s beginning,” she said. “I can’t wait to work with faculty and students to create courses that truly prepare graduates for the ever-changing world of veterinary medicine.”

Working alongside a team of educators, Linton focuses on integrating modern learning design and technology to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement. “I’m looking forward to helping shape a culture of curiosity, compassion and excellence that will define who we are as a college for years to come,” she said.

Linton hopes to make a lasting impact by creating a learning experience that is as forward-thinking as it is practical. “As the College of Veterinary Medicine grows, I want to leave my pawprint by helping create strategies that empower faculty to teach with creativity and confidence while supporting students as they develop real-world skills,” she said.

She sees her role as a bridge—connecting innovation with meaningful application—to keep the curriculum engaging and relevant. “Ultimately, I want to help nurture a community that values reflection, collaboration and a healthy sense of curiosity as we shape the future of veterinary education together.”

Outside of the classroom, Linton brings the same sense of exploration to her personal life. She enjoys biking, hiking, kayaking and solving escape rooms with friends. Recently, she’s also taken up crocheting, a challenge she describes as both “rewarding and engaging.”

“I’m happiest when I’m exploring or learning something new,” she said. “These little adventures keep me inspired, balanced and ready for whatever’s next.”
