A family tradition.
This Tiger’s grandfather attended Clemson and she followed in his footsteps, graduating this past May. She currently oversees Experience Clemson in downtown Greenville, where she helps to create a hub for the Clemson Family.
Meet Ellis Burnett.
Title: Director of Experience Clemson
Years at Clemson: Four-and-a-half. I’ve spent the past four years as a student. I graduated in May and have been working for Clemson since August.
What I do at Clemson: As the manager of Experience Clemson, I get to share all things Clemson with people in Greenville. Experience Clemson reopened in September as a welcome center, event space and retail shop. Each day, I get to meet fans, alumni and prospective students and tell them about all of the great people and programs at Clemson. I also love to host university groups and organizations at Experience Clemson.
What I love about Clemson: The Clemson family is unique and special. As a student in the parks, recreation and tourism management program, I studied with faculty who sincerely cared about and invested in my education. As an alumna, I have the best group of fellow graduates in the world. As an employee in University Relations, I am surrounded by people who live and share Clemson’s values. Every time I meet a new member of the Clemson family, I am reminded of how lucky I am to be part of it.
My defining moment at Clemson: Transitioning from student to employee for my first post-graduate job has been an amazing experience, especially getting to do it in my hometown! I feel so fortunate to focus my days on bringing Clemson orange to Greenville.
Accomplishment I’m most proud of: Graduating from Clemson. It had been my dream for as long as I can remember, so walking across the stage was incredible.
Where I see myself in five years: No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I hope I will always be able to say that I am having a positive impact on my community.
Last thing I watched on TV: College football, the best part of fall!
Guilty pleasure: Ice cream! My favorite flavor is lavender, but I also love almost any flavor with chocolate.
One thing most people don’t know about me: I don’t like to listen to music in the car; a silent ride is my quiet time. This could partly be because when I was 16 years old, I got a ticket for playing Britney Spears too loud while driving.
