The title of the paper is “Lithium-Ion Batteries: Atomic-Scale Observation of Electrochemically Reversible Phase Transformations in SnSe2 Single Crystals.”

The research could help lead to batteries that charge faster, hold their charge longer and have longer lifetimes, He said. Batteries could also be made safer, He said.

The research could improve batteries for a wide variety of products from laptops to electric vehicles, He said.

Co-authors are Sungkyu Kim, Zhenpeng Yao, Jin‐Myoung Lim, Mark C. Hersam, Chris Wolverton and Vinayak P. Dravid.
