GREENVILLE, S.C. — Clemson University is redefining graduate business education through advanced teaching technology at its Greenville ONE facility.
Located in the heart of downtown Greenville, Clemson’s Greenville ONE serves as a hub for graduate business programs and professional development. The facility houses the University’s MBA programs in Corporate, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and Business Analytics, as well as graduate programs in Accountancy (MPAcc), Real Estate Development (MRED) and Management.
Transforming the hybrid learning experience
During Summer 2025, Clemson completed a full audiovisual modernization across Greenville ONE’s instructional spaces.
According to Jonathan Clayton, Customer Success Manager, Clemson Computing and Information Technology (CCIT), the upgrade features Crestron 1 Beyond intelligent cameras equipped with Visual AI–based capabilities such as group framing, presenter tracking, and multi-camera intelligent switching.
“This brings the in-classroom experience directly to our online community,” Clayton said. “The new ceiling microphones include advanced background noise cancellation and elevates the Clemson MBA Program to a next-level experience for online students.”
In addition to cameras and microphones, the modernization included:
- Updated Crestron control processors and touch panels
- New displays and routing hardware to support higher-resolution content
- Improved network infrastructure for low-latency streaming
- A new AV monitoring and remote-support layer to assist instructors in real time
Before the upgrade, Greenville ONE classrooms were set up to support basic lecture capture, but did not allow for the dynamic, high-engagement hybrid instruction students experience today.
A new standard for instructional excellence
The upgraded ecosystem significantly enhances both in-person and online learning by providing:
- More engaging hybrid instruction: AI-enabled cameras automatically track instructors and reframe groups, improving visual connection for remote students.
- Crisper, clearer audio: MXA920 microphones capture voices naturally while filtering out background noise.
- Equitable participation: Intelligent multi-camera switching ensures online students always see the appropriate speaker or classroom content.
- Ease of use for faculty: Updated Crestron controls allow instructors to launch and manage sessions with a single touch.
- Improved reliability: Real-time AV monitoring allows for immediate, remote troubleshooting and reduced downtime.
- Enhanced evening support: Onsite AV staff are present during all evening hybrid classes, providing direct assistance to faculty and students to ensure instructional continuity.
Installation of the system was completed in Summer 2025, with courses using the new technology beginning fall semester.
“This transformation represents years of planning and collaboration,” said Jeremy Kröber, who leads Clemson’s online learning initiatives at Greenville ONE. “Our goal was to create a flexible, future-ready environment that prioritizes student engagement, whether students are in Greenville, on campus or joining class from across the country.”
Kröber and Clayton worked closely to ensure the new systems align with Clemson’s long-term technology standards and provide flexibility for future instructional innovation.
Expanding opportunity and connectivity
Greenville ONE continues to serve as a bridge between Clemson and the Upstate business community. The Phyfer Innovation Hub provides incubator space for entrepreneurs and students, while the Clemson University Center for Corporate Learning (CCL) delivers executive education, certificate programs and customized corporate training for industry professionals.
With advanced streaming and collaboration tools, Clemson can now connect guest speakers, instructors and learners from around the globe. The facility also hosts public events such as the Innovative Leadership Series, EnterPrize Awards, and C-Suite Sessions, fostering engagement among students, alumni, and industry leaders.
Investing in the future of education
The technological transformation at Greenville ONE exemplifies Clemson University’s commitment to creating exceptional learning environments that meet students where they are — in person or online. By integrating cutting-edge tools and real-time support systems, Clemson is ensuring that every graduate student benefits from a world-class, connected experience.
“These advancements reaffirm our commitment to providing an outstanding student experience,” Kröber said. “At Greenville ONE, Clemson is not just keeping pace with the future of education — we’re helping define it.”
