The Clemson University Police Department (CUPD) will once again serve as a collection site for National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The bi-annual event, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration, allows anyone to return unused or expired prescription medications for safe and proper disposal.
CUPD’s substation located in the Hub at Douthit Hills — adjacent to the University bookstore — will serve as the dropoff location for anyone wishing to dispose of their unused or expired prescription medications. Drug take back is anonymous and no questions are asked. The event is open to anyone from the University or the local community to bring their unused prescription medications for disposal.
Unused prescription drugs thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold. Unused drugs that are flushed contaminate the water supply. Returning unused prescription drugs for proper disposal saves lives and helps protect the environment.
