CUFD Medical Control Physician, Dr. Sarah Fabiano, named JEMS Medical Director

Dr. Sarah Fabiano, the Medical Control Physician for the Clemson University Fire & EMS department, has been named Medical Director of the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS).

In addition to serving as the Medical Control Physician for CUFD, Dr. Fabiano also serves as the Medical Director for CUFD’s Stadium EMS group at home football games. Her experience and expertise have helped enhance the gameday experience for fans needing medical assistance.

“Congratulations to Dr. Fabiano on this appointment,” said CUFD Chief Rick Cramer. “We are so proud to have her as a part of our medical team and thankful for all that she does for us. It is a great honor for her and I have no doubt that she will do a great job in that role.”

With 12 years of experience in Greenville, SC, Dr. Fabiano has been practicing in a combined Academic and Community Medicine practice. Her outstanding contributions to the field of emergency medicine have earned her prestigious accolades, including being awarded Medical Director of the Year for South Carolina for two consecutive years. Additionally, she co-hosts the widely acclaimed podcast/webcast “911inthe864.com” with her colleague.

In her previous roles, Dr. Fabiano served as the medical director for various services, including air, ground, private, wildfire, college and stadium-based services. She is particularly proud of her work teaching and collaborating with prehospital providers, emphasizing the satisfaction derived from seeing individuals learn and apply their knowledge in real-world situations.

“I am more than excited to become the medical director for JEMS,” Dr. Fabiano said in a news release about the appointment. “It is an incredible opportunity. I am happy to be a part of the team.”

As the Medical Director of JEMS, Dr. Fabiano will play a crucial role in shaping the content and media direction of the brand, ensuring accuracy and medical relevance to current practices in the prehospital environment. Her duties include participating in the JEMS Advisory Board, contributing to the JEMS podcast, webinars, and reviewing and contributing articles.

Dr. Fabiano will also represent JEMS at events such as JEMS@FDIC, participating in the JEMS Clinical Competition and contributing to the JEMS Innovation Summit.
