Clemson’s College of Education celebrates Extra Yard for Teachers

Share:

The Clemson University College of Education celebrated South Carolina’s Teachers of the Year–and all teachers–during the Clemson Tiger’s recent football match up with the Charlotte 49ers. Our college hosted teachers and their families inside the stadium around Howard’s Rock before the game, and we held a tailgate in the hours before kickoff outside Littlejohn Coliseum.

Our founding dean, George J. Petersen, welcomed teachers and special guests President James P. Clements and his wife, Beth Clements, at the tailgate. Luke Clamp, the 2019 National Principal of the Year; Alecia Clamp, Lexington County School District One teacher of the year; and their children attended the tailgate, as did Chanda Jefferson, South Carolina Teacher of the Year from Fairfield Central High School.

All Teachers of the Year enjoyed a standing ovation on the field before kickoff from thousands of Clemson fans in attendance.
