Our Clemson

Clemson employees have made a tradition of coming out in force for United Way. Organizers hope to break another record with this year’s campaign that runs October 20 through November 7.

Last year’s donations to the United Way of Pickens County totaled $109,412, a figure that was raised during Hurricane Helene and contributed significantly to disaster relief in the area.

“The support we receive from Clemson University employees through this workplace campaign is absolutely vital to our ability to serve individuals and families throughout the state. These generous donations make a real, tangible difference in people’s lives, and we’re deeply grateful for the Clemson community’s continued commitment to helping their neighbors in need.” said Vice President of Corporate Engagement United Way of Pickens County Jeremy Price. “The Clemson University community’s generosity through the United Way workplace campaign is transforming lives in our communities and we are grateful for the generosity.”

You can donate to United Way via cash, check, credit card, or (most recommended) payroll deduction by visiting the United Way of Pickens County website. If you have donated via payroll deduction previously, your donation will roll over this year and no action is necessary. If you wish to increase your donation amount, you can do so through the link.

The Clemson Employee United Way Campaign is unique in that it has a state-wide reach to communities across South Carolina. When employees donate, their gifts stay in the community in which they live — helpful to know for individuals who work and live in a place other than the city of Clemson. For those who work and live near main campus, which is the lion’s share of Clemson’s contributors, their gifts go to Pickens County and support the following programs:

Education

  • Camp iRock is the Pickens UW summer reading program that helps children improve their reading abilities in an enriching summer camp environment.
  • Born LearningLantern, and Preschool Pages are also education-related initiatives.

Financial Stability

  • Free File is a free tax preparation service prepared by trained and IRS-certified volunteers.
  • Pathways at Work is an intensive, one-on-one financial coaching program. Participants typically spend six to 18 months in the program covering topics like debt, credit and budgeting. Pathways aims to give participants the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to achieve freedom over their finances.

Faculty and Staff Drop-in Event

The Clemson United Way campaign has teamed up with Aramark to offer a special event on Wednesday, November 5, where faculty and staff can meet Clemson Baseball head coach Erik Bakich, enjoy refreshments, grab United Way swag and learn more about the United Way. The event will be held from 1-3 p.m. in the team meeting room at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
