Mandy Dale, BFA, Med, joins the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine (PCVM) as the Professional Development Curriculum Manager, bringing a diverse background in professional theatre, communication, conflict resolution and veterinary education to the college’s inaugural DVM class.
“I am deeply passionate about creating a culture where meaningful conversations are encouraged, and communication is recognized as an essential part of professional growth,” said Dale.
Dale hails from Calgary, Alberta in Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Master of Education, and began her Doctor of Education in adult learning in 2025, focusing her research on the pedagogy of communication within veterinary medicine.
Prior to coming to Clemson, Dale spent 15 years working in professional theatre while also developing an interest in simulation training and learner assessment. Through those experiences, she discovered a passion for human dynamics, ultimately earning a Certificate in Conflict Coaching from the Justice Institute of British Columbia in Canada.
“My subsequent work expanded into high-performance coaching, where I partnered with the Canadian Olympic Committee to design a specialized curriculum,” Dale said. “Using professional actors, role-play, and communication coaching, we empowered Olympic coaches, and high-performance directors to maintain composure and manage conflict under pressure. It was an honor to be involved in that program for nearly eight years.”
In 2016, Dale transitioned to higher education, eventually becoming a Professional Skills Advisor with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary. In January 2024, Dale and her family moved to Saint Kitts in the Caribbean, where she served as an assistant professor in clinical sciences at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She taught clinical communication to DVM students, coordinated the professionalism program and supported colleague training and development.
Now at Clemson, Dale hopes to contribute to the foundational growth of the PCVM by building collaborative partnerships across the University and helping to shape a resilient generation of veterinarians who are deeply connected to both our campus and the public we serve.
Dale joins the PCVM collective with her husband and daughter and is eager to plant roots. “Joining the Clemson fold is an incredible opportunity to be part of a thriving academic ecosystem and allows my family to be a part of the broader Upstate community, Go Tigers!”
