The nation’s second largest student run pep-rally and the epitome of what Clemson community and tradition means is coming to Memorial Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019. Tigerama brings the campus and fans together in anticipation of the Homecoming game against Boston College the following day.
Tigerama is the culminating celebration of Homecoming Week and the only place to watch the reveal of float and pageant winners, cheer on Clemson’s football team before the game, and watch the incredible musical duo, JOHNNYSWIM, perform live in Death Valley. A University-wide effort, Tigerama is sponsored by Blue Key Honor Society with support from Clemson Undergraduate Student Government, Central Spirit and TigerPaw Productions.
This year, the student staff leading the planning for Tigerama has worked tirelessly to see the event come to fruition and is proud to introduce the 2019 theme, “Welcome to the Dynasty.”
“Our nationally-ranked football program and academics, paired with a passionate and driven student body, come together to form the Clemson Family – This is what makes the Clemson Dynasty and our inspiration for the Homecoming theme this year,” said Clemson Senior and Tigerama Director Jack Debbout.
With a determined and competitive student body, the Clemson community is equally ecstatic about this year’s prospects as they were for the 2016 and 2018 National Championship seasons.
“Our students are more determined than ever to bring another victory home to the place we love most,” Debbout said.
The evening will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with a block party on the Avenue of Champions. Highlights of the block party include food trucks, face painting for kids of all ages, a bounce house, representation from Clemson student organizations, and the College Football Playoff National Championship trophy on display. Gates to Death Valley will open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 6:45.
During Tigerama, fans can expect performances from the football team, cheerleaders and Rally Cats, and the announcement of Homecoming Pageant and float winners.
All students are looking forward to the event, but it is of particular importance to the groups involved. Rally Cat Mattie Lee voiced her opinion on why she loves this event.
“Tigerama is one of my favorite Clemson traditions as well as one of my favorite parts of Homecoming week,” she said. “So much work goes into this event and watching it all come together at the end of the week is truly amazing.”
What makes Tigerama special this year is the anticipated musical performance by JOHNNYSWIM, along with the history behind the event.
“Tigerama, for 63 years, has been defined by the passion of our Clemson Family,” said Assistant Tigerama Director Sidney Tindall. “This event is the embodiment of that community, and we are excited this year to bring a new element into that representation – a performance by the duo JOHNNYSWIM! This folk-pop duo will bring an undeniable energy into Death Valley this year, one to accompany our already dynamic Clemson Spirit. We are thrilled to welcome JOHNNYSWIM into the Clemson Family through this long-standing and ever-loyal Clemson tradition.”
JOHNNYSWIM is the first musical act to play in Death Valley since country music legend George Strait in 1999.
Students have worked diligently to plan Tigerama since the beginning of 2019, Debbout said. He is passionate about the event and opportunity ahead of him.
“I am so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to lead and uphold this long standing Clemson tradition,” he said. “I love being the \director of Tigerama because I love giving back to this University that has given so much to all of its students, staff and alumni. To me, Tigerama is a crucial part of the beloved Clemson Homecoming tradition and fully represents our longstanding history and dedication to students.”
Tickets for the event can be purchased at Ticketmaster or in person on the second floor of the Hendrix Student Center at the guest services desk. Tickets purchased in advance are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Tickets purchased on the day of the event are $15 for students and $20 for adults. Children under 3 years old will be admitted free. The event will be held rain or shine with the Memorial Stadium Clear Bag Policy enforced. Parking for the event will be in Lot 5.
