The start of another Fall semester signifies a busy time in the Department of Campus Recreation. Students have descended on main campus, are enrolled in classes and looking for ways to remain active.
Fortunately, Campus Rec offers the opportunity to do just that.
New this semester, students can expect to see a renovated lobby and welcome center area inside Fike Recreation Center. Turnstiles have been added to increase security within Clemson’s oldest recreational and wellness facility, so students are encouraged to have some form of TigerOne ID (mobile credential or physical card) on them at all times.
Fitness and wellness classes begin this month
Group fitness and F45 class registrations are available to students with active Campus Rec memberships. F45 rates are $60 for students and $85 for employees. Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 26 and the full schedule is available on the Campus Rec website.
Mindfulness and Meditation
A new class this semester, discover inner peace and connect with your own well-being through a weekly class offered at 4:45 p.m. each Wednesday. Mindfulness and Meditation is taught by a former faculty member in the Upper Fitness Studio at Fike and offers the chance to learn practical techniques to help bring about calm and clarity.
Luau at the Climbing Wall
The first of many theme nights throughout the year, students are encouraged to come dressed in festive luau attire and take part in various climbing activities on Fike’s 30-foot wall on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Fall Intramurals are Around the Corner
Registration for the first two Intramural Sports of the semester will soon open — Grass Volleyball on Monday, Aug. 26 and Flag Football on Monday, Sept. 9. Students should create an account through IM Leagues to exercise their competitive juices.
