Our Clemson

What first began as a capstone project for CU Grow in 2023 has grown into a vital resource for Clemson University staff and faculty. Nearly two years since its conception — and one year since welcoming its first visitors — The Nook has become a trusted space where Clemson colleagues can find both essential supplies and a sense of community.

Tucked discreetly along Klugh Avenue, the pantry is intentionally designed to be both accessible and private. From the outside, it resembles a typical University facility, but inside, visitors enter a warm, welcoming environment where colleagues serve colleagues.

Open Monday through Friday and staffed by University volunteers, The Nook has filled a need across campus and built connection across divisions and departments.

Since opening in late November 2024, the pantry has supported over 150 employees, who have collectively made nearly 1,100 visits to The Nook.

In just one year, the facility has distributed more than 16,000 items to colleagues across campus.

Meeting everyday needs with care

The Nook provides free access to nonperishable food items, household supplies and personal care products to employees facing short-term or unexpected needs.

Throughout the year, it has also offered seasonal and special items, such as school supplies in August and birthday cake kits on demand. This Thanksgiving, The Nook will connect colleagues with pre-made holiday meals to help make the season brighter.

Donations from local partners and campus community members have made unique initiatives come to life — including “Peanut Butter and Jelly Days,” made possible through a generous fall contribution from Skippy.
