Student Affairs Talk: Kate Radford

Share:

Editor’s note: This is the latest installment in our series of “Student Affairs Talk” podcasts. In it, Communications Director for Student Affairs Philip Sikes visits with various leaders from the staff and student communities. This week’s featured guest is Kate Radford, associate director for Student Involvement & Leadership.

Kate Radford, associate director for Student Involvement & Leadership, in the Edgar A. Brown University Union area on Clemson's campus.
Kate Radford was an Employee of the Year within the Division of Student Affairs in 2018 and is set to receive an Award for Excellence from the Board of Trustees in February.

When Kate Radford was perusing potential college destinations as a high school junior in Maryland, she had her mind set on Clemson University. But unfortunately, it fell just outside the eight-hour geographic radius preferred by her parents. But as fate would have it, a few years later she was living in Asheville, North Carolina following graduation from Elon University when the Upstate institution once again showed up on her radar. She enrolled in the counselor education master’s degree program, with a focus on student affairs. Nine years later, she is the associate director for Student Involvement & Leadership and now even considers herself a “Clemson person.”

In this week’s podcast, Radford told us how she first gained an interest in student affairs as a career, how she has grown throughout the years, some of the events and initiatives her office has spearheaded, as well as the outstanding staff who have had a positive impact on her day-to-day experience in this role.
