Editor’s note: This is the latest installment in our series of “Student Affairs Talk” podcasts. In it, Communications Director for Student Affairs Philip Sikes visits with various leaders from the staff and student communities. This week’s featured guest is Crystal Fulmer, associate director of Healthy Campus.

Crystal Fulmer has worked with Healthy Campus, part of Student Health Services, since 2014.

Crystal Fulmer grew up in eastern Tennessee, but found her way to Upstate South Carolina when she landed an academic scholarship to Wofford College in Spartanburg. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in business, she made her way to Clemson for a dual master’s and Ph.D. program at Clemson. During her studies, she gained extensive work experience first as a teaching assistant and then as a part-time program coordinator with Healthy Campus, the education and prevention arm of Student Health Services.

Today, Fulmer is responsible for wearing many hats in her role. A typical week includes teaching a creative inquiry class, spearheading collaborative campus efforts on suicide prevention, collecting survey data related to health behaviors and providing education on alcohol awareness and drug initiatives to various student organizations. She works under the direction of Jennifer Goree and alongside a spirited team of professionals on the third floor of Fike Recreation Center.
