As part of Suicide Prevention Month, “Sincerely, Daniel” will host a Walk and Talk on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Clemson Area African American Museum. The event begins at 9 a.m. with the first episode of a new oral history podcast series, “Loaded Bases,” featuring Javis Austin, a Clemson football alum and survivor of a suicide attempt. Austin will share his story, offering both personal testimony and a powerful message about mental health awareness.

Following the podcast, participants will join a community walk through the historic neighborhood surrounding the museum, with a water station at Goldenview Baptist Church. The morning will close with a festival-style gathering at the museum that will include refreshments, activities, and time to explore the “Sincerely, Daniel” exhibition.

The event is free and open to the public, with registration available at sincerelydaniel.com. It is designed to honor lives impacted by suicide, uplift survivors, and create a space for community healing and connection.

“Sincerely, Daniel” is an immersive sports exhibit led by Clemson Ph.D. student Jaquial Durham and D’Andrew “D.K.” Keasler-Bruce that showcases of 50 years of athletics excellence at Daniel High, much of which is also etched in Clemson history. The exhibit, launched in February, is proudly on display at the Clemson Area African American Museum located just minutes from the University.
