Seven of the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business’ best have been named Powers Fellows for their exceptional performance in the classroom, as researchers and through academic service.
The program recognizing outstanding faculty was created through a portion of the generous $60 million gift presented by Wilbur O. and Ann Powers to Clemson University’s business college in 2020. The Powers Fellows recognize continued excellence in faculty performance areas of teaching, research, and academic service.
The three Emerging Fellows and four Distinguished Fellows will receive $7,500 and $30,000 per year, respectively, over the next three years. They include:
- Jorge Garcia, assistant professor, John E. Walker Department of Economics
- Luke DeVault, assistant professor, Department of Finance
- Matt Hersel, assistant professor, Department of Management
- Kristin Scott, professor, Department of Management
- Scott Swain, associate professor, Department of Marketing
- Derek Dalton, professor, School of Accountancy
- Amy Ingram, associate professor, Department of Management

Twenty-one faculty nominations for Fellow recognition were evaluated by a committee comprised of Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business faculty and an outside faculty member appointed by the provost. Emerging Fellows exhibited a record of distinguished accomplishment in research and either teaching or service. Distinguished Fellows exhibited a record of distinguished accomplishment in teaching, research, and service.

Daniel and Nancy Garrison Professor, associate professor, Marketing; June Pilcher, Alumni Distinguished Professor, Psychology, outside member appointed by the provost.
