Community, Engagement, Belonging and Access; OUR Clemson

Request an ASL interpreter, live captioning for your next event

Clemson University strives for a living, learning and working environment that fosters respect and equitable treatment. To that end, the Office of Access and Equity encourages Clemson employees to provide ASL (American Sign Language) interpreters and live captioning for University-sponsored events.

All Clemson University sponsored events open to the public that do not require registration should provide ASL interpreters—though, as a best practice, the office encourages all University sponsored events provide ASL interpreters. Visit the Office of Access and Equity request form to learn more and request an interpreter. A cost may be associated with a request, and the office recommends requesting at least two weeks before the event.

The Office of Access and Equity also offers captioning services for events. Captioners from partnered vendors can:

  • provide real-time captions over a live video feed or webinar
  • real-time projection of captions on a wall behind an in-person speaker
  • or post-production captions for a recorded event that you intend to post

Requests can be made through the Request Real-time Captioning form located on the Office of Access and Equity website. As with ASL interpreter requests, a cost may be associated and the office recommends requesting at least two weeks before the event.
