Clemson University is pleased to announce that the new paid parental leave benefit will be available to eligible employees beginning Oct. 1, 2022. Paid parental leave provides financial support to eligible employees who are parents or co-parents.
The new legislation provides employees occupying all or part of a full-time equivalent position (FTE) paid parental leave for the birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child occurring on or after Oct. 1, 2022.
- Eligible employees receive 100 percent of their base pay while on paid parental leave.
- There is no service requirement to be eligible for paid parental leave.
- The amount of leave available depends on the qualifying event (adoption, birth, or foster care placement) and the relationship of the state employee to the child.
- If both parents are eligible employees of Clemson University, both can receive paid parental leave.
