Military and Veteran Engagement is offering monthly Green Zone Training for faculty, staff and graduate assistants during the Fall semester. The training is designed to provide insight into the military experience of veterans and military-connected students as they transition to higher education.
“Faculty, staff and fellow students play an essential role in helping student veterans transition to life at Clemson,” says Emily DaBruzzi, director of Military and Veteran Engagement and one of the course instructors. “We invite these groups to attend a Green Zone Training with us to learn about the military student experience and how best to support this population.”
Green Zone Training participants learn:
• Facts and figures related to military students
• What it means to be a student veteran
• Associated myths and stigmas
• On- and off-campus resources and support services for military-connected students
Successfully completed Green Zone Training courses are applicable toward the Strategic Inclusive Excellence Certificate. Additionally, DaBruzzi says faculty and staff in both the Center for Career and Professional Development and Provost’s Office recently completed training, with other groups scheduled for the Fall term. She encourages offices and departments interested in customized training to reach out to her individually or through TigerQuest.
