Meet Anne Marie Rogers.

Title: Clemson Online learning technology manager

Years at Clemson: Two years

What I do at Clemson: My job is a combination of several aspects including training, maintaining, evaluating and supporting academic technologies. In addition, I oversee and coordinate Clemson Online’s instructional video production and serve as webmaster.

What I love about Clemson: I have been in love with Clemson my whole life – my blood runs orange! I love our campus, faculty, staff and students. We have the most amazing campus community. Our faculty and staff truly care about our students and want them to be successful. As a former K-12 teacher, student success is my first priority. I love helping faculty obtain the tools and resources they need in order to create an engaging and effective learning environment.

My defining moment at Clemson: There have been several defining moments for me, but the most memorable was during my first couple of months working at Clemson. A particular instructor was not very happy about changing to a new learning management system when we were migrating from Blackboard to Canvas. I worked with the instructor to help with the transition, listened to concerns and demonstrated the benefits of the new system. The next semester, I received an email from that instructor expressing happiness with Canvas and appreciation for my help and patience. This instructor is now one that I call upon when I want to test a new product or get an opinion on a new tool. This experience taught me that my actions can make a difference.

Accomplishment I’m most proud of: I’m very proud of our current work in producing instructional videos using lightboards and 360 video. I am also proud of the initiative Kristen Lawson and I established called First Friday Coffee and Conversations—a monthly faculty-led discussion on instructional tools and student engagement (with free coffee).

Where I see myself in five years: Over the next five years, I want to increase faculty awareness of new technologies and tools that will assist in student engagement and success.

Last thing I watched on TV: My husband and I are currently watching The Office reruns because we are waiting for the final season of Game of Thrones to start.

Guilty pleasure: Romance novels. As an English major, I enjoy all types of books, including crime thrillers and the classics. However, sometimes it’s just fun to sit and read a book that doesn’t require you to concentrate. One of my favorite things to do is sit by the pool, or curl up on the couch and read a cheesy romance novel.

One thing most people don’t know about me: I coached high school softball for more than 10 years and I provide fresh eggs to many of my Clemson Online colleagues.
