Lily Shen, associate professor of finance at the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business, joined the board of the International Real Estate Society (IRES) earlier this spring as a representative of the American Real Estate Society (ARES).
The IRES is a federation of regional real estate societies, like the ARES, that work together to share information and resources for real estate. Their goal is to promote real estate research and education around the world and support programs and partnerships between different regions and faculty members.
Alone, the ARES has over 1,400 members and is the leader in global real estate research and education. Through the ARES, six real estate journals have been developed, as well as an annual spring conference where the latest real estate research is presented and shared.
Shen is excited to step into this new role. “I am delighted to join the IRES board as a representative of the American Real Estate Society. With a deep commitment to real estate research and education, I am excited about the opportunities IRES provides for fostering global collaboration and advancing our collective expertise.”
Angela Morgan, the chair of the Department of Finance, says that real estate makes an impact on the financial management program. “We are thrilled that Dr. Shen was elected as the ARES representative to the IRES board. As a board member, she will meet academics and professionals from across the globe and help us build the department’s reputation as a leader in real estate education and research.”
