Clemson University, like other universities, has been dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic for the past year and the division of University Relations has been deeply involved in that work from the beginning, helping create and share a range of communications designed to keep employees and students safe and informed.

A portion of that work – a digital ad campaign as part of the Healthy Clemson – United as Tigers program – recently was awarded the highest honor, a platinum award, at the 15th Annual AVA Digital Awards. The AVA Digital Awards is an international competition recognizing excellence by creative professionals responsible for the planning, concept, direction, design, and production of digital communication.

University Relations quickly established an online hub as part of the Healthy Clemson. United as Tigers campaign. The website includes testing registration, policies and specific resources for students, faculty and staff, along with the dashboard.

Among the other aspects of the Healthy Clemson work created by University Relations has been the creation of a comprehensive COVID-19 website, an online hub of information and resources specific to students, faculty and staff.

Billboards, campus signage, lamp post banners and digital displays provided visual reminders of the ongoing effort to keep Clemson safe. Another important feature of the campaign, Covidquestions@clemson.edu provided ongoing personal responses to employees, students and parents.

In addition to the platinum award, Clemson received two other awards for its efforts surrounding the University’s 2020 commencement and how it worked to provide an interactive way to celebrate Clemson’s May and August graduates until in-person ceremonies were held in the fall. University Relations received a gold award for its graduation social media campaign and an honorable mention for its graduation microsite.

“These awards represent a true team effort – from those responsible for arriving at concepts to the planning, technical and creative execution that produces the finished product to the distribution strategy that gets these important messages in front of the right audiences at the right time,” said Vice President, University Relations Mark Land. “I’m extremely proud of the work this team has done to keep our stakeholders engaged and informed throughout the pandemic – and what they do every day to make Clemson better.”
