CLEMSON — Littlejohn Coliseum is set to gear up with activity when the home venue for Clemson basketball welcomes 370 prospective employers and nearly 1,400 recruiters to its concourse for the fall 2019 Career Fair. Many more recruiters will come to Clemson’s main campus in the three days following the fair to conduct interviews with students.
The fair runs from noon-4 p.m. each day. The first two afternoons have been designated for aspiring careers in engineering, computing and sciences. The final day is designated for business, healthcare and communications. Students are admitted into the Burton Gallery in the southeast corner of the arena for registration. Burton Gallery also serves as a home to Career Fair sponsors and as a lounge for employers, who are spread throughout the concourse.
After-fair interviews will take place inside various suites on the north side of nearby Memorial Stadium. Students and employers should enter Gate 6 for access.
Lisa Bundrick, who serves as assistant director for events and employer relations with the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD), said nearly 200 companies have signed up to participate in after-fair interviews.
“We are just thrilled with the response from both employers and students for this year’s events,” Bundrick said. “Our numbers represent a 21-percent increase from the spring fair. Employers are impressed by our students and are eager to connect both at the fair and through after-fair interviews. This doesn’t even include the numerous interviews that take place through the semester on campus at the Michelin Career Center.”
Clemson’s career services program was ranked No. 1 nationally for the third time in the last five years in August by The Princeton Review. During the 2019 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019), the Michelin Career Center reported over 27,000 total contacts with students — a figure that does not include UPIC internship and cooperative education opportunities.
The most recent survey data collected by CCPD shows that 99 percent of students who visited the third floor of Hendrix reported receiving additional tools and resources from their visit. These tools helped enhance critical skills such as job search tips and résumé and interview preparation.
“Job postings for off-campus internships and full-time positions have also benefitted from the buzz surrounding the fair,” Bundrick said. “Currently, we have close to 1,600 active job opportunities listed for our students!”
