Fall 2020 campus dining options for employees

With just a couple of move-in days remaining this week, the bulk of nearly 7,000 students have been welcomed to main campus. As a result, Clemson Dining is experiencing high demand as it transitions from a period of very little operation to a more widespread, yet physically distanced service routine.

Because of high demand and the shift in operations, employees who work on campus may be wondering what dining options will be available to them. As the University transitions to in-person instruction on Monday, Sept. 21, employees can visit McAlister and Schilletter dining halls for grab-n-go meals Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. (McAlister) and 12:30 – 8 p.m. (Schilletter). Employees can access grab-n-go lines from the Union side for McAlister and main entrance (near Manning Hall) at Schilletter.

“We’re really proud of the quality of our residential dining and love the community that takes place with faculty, staff and students together in the same space,” said Kathy Bush Hobgood, executive director of University Housing & Dining. “One of the challenges of our current socially-distanced setup is the total number of people who can be in a dining hall at one time to ensure limited density. While we would absolutely love to serve everyone in the main dining halls, access will be prioritized for residential students. All unlimited meal plan holders will have an appointed time where they receive dine-in priority. But, we have plenty of other on-campus options available to our wonderful faculty and staff!”

One of those options is a full-service Peppino’s Pizzeria, which has moved from the Eastside Food Court in Hendrix Student Center to the space previously occupied by Wendy’s, next to Schilletter Dining Hall. Peppino’s now features an expanded menu — including pastas, salads and desserts — for anyone working in close proximity to Bryan Mall. Peppino’s will be open until 10 p.m. during the week and 1 a.m. on weekends.

Visit Clemson Dining’s website for full hours of operation during the Fall semester. Dining venues have moved to contactless payment for all transactions and guests are asked to maintain six feet of physical distancing and avoid entering locations if they do not feel well.
