The Clemson Real Estate Club recently collaborated with the Commercial Real Estate Women’s (CREW) Network of the Upstate to bring members of CREW to campus to participate in a panel this spring designed to highlight the various professions tied to the commercial real estate industry.

CREW Network is an organization with chapters around the world that is focused on advocating for women in the commercial real estate profession.  The CREW Foundation was established to  support female students in higher education who want to pursue careers in this industry.

The panel included a diverse range of speakers, representing various disciplines within real estate. Students were able to gain insight into career paths, networking and the day-to-day experiences of someone in the profession.

Each panelist delved into their experience in their respective fields, answering questions, giving advice and showcasing their expertise.

  • Bryana Mistretta (M‘23)- Research and Marketing Manager at Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC)
  • Sarah LaMunion (‘14)- Architect at SHLTR
  • Racquel Collier (M’19)- President at Caliber Real Estate Development
  • Bailey Tollison (’15)- Senior Brokerage Associate at Colliers
  • Brandy Chapman (’17, M’18)- Civil Engineering Team Manager at HDR

Elaine Worzala, visiting professor in the Department of Finance and the Clemson Real Estate Club advisor shared her thoughts on the panel. ““These sort of professional and student events are so beneficial for everyone. The students learn a lot and start to build their network and the professional/alumni get connected with the students and in some cases find interns and permanent employees,” she says. “Clemson is striving to be one of the top places for providing an incredible undergraduate experience, and these joint ventures with professional organizations is an ideal opportunity to do that.  It’s a win, win, win.  Students, professionals and the faculty all are getting something terrific out of these experiences.”

Charles (CJ) Lynch, a senior in financial management and president of the Clemson Real Estate Club, spoke about the benefits of the event. “It was a pleasure welcoming CREW Upstate South Carolina back to campus for the second year in a row. We are very fortunate to have collaborated with them to offer our club members the unique experience of learning and networking with distinguished real estate professionals in various disciplines like brokerage, civil engineering, development, lending, banking, architecture and more! This would not have been possible without the help of CREW Greenville President Heather Volz, Adam Thoma, and Liz Dillard. We look forward to hosting CREW on campus again next year!”

The CREW Network Foundation has a scholarship open to students, which closes on April 15. The Foundation will grant 25 $5,000 scholarships to undergraduates and 15 $10,000 scholarships to graduate students.
