Clemson University’s Division of Undergraduate Learning has announced funding awards for 15 experiential learning projects aimed at providing innovative, hands-on learning experiences that build meaningful partnerships with industry in South Carolina.
“To best prepare students for the workplace, we are committed to providing opportunities for students to ‘learn by doing’ in partnership with the industries where they will work,” said Sean Brittain, associate provost and dean of undergraduate learning. “This is experiential learning in a nutshell, and it is the centerpiece of our effort to deliver the No. 1 Student Experience. Reflecting its importance, the South Carolina General Assembly made a significant investment in Clemson to support experiential learning programs that connect workforce development through partnerships with industry.”
In the first year of an annually recurring process, the division received 53 proposals from every Clemson college and several units requesting $14.2M in funding. Proposals were evaluated for student Impact, industry partnership, budget and feasibility, and strategic alignment with Clemson Elevate and broader institutional priorities.
“These resources are intended to strengthen partnerships between members of our faculty and their colleagues in industry that provide hands-on learning experiences for our students,” said Brittain.
More information about the program is available on the Division of Undergraduate Learning’s website.
